Epidemiologist with a background in research into the cell and molecular biology of HIV infection and a strong interest in global health and the control of infectious diseases.
Previously I worked for many years in a research laboratory with Professor Mark Marsh studying the cell and molecular biology of HIV. I used various electron microscopy approaches to investigate the effects of viral infections on host cells. Recent projects included analysis of the role of host cell factors such as the ESCRT proteins and Tetherin on HIV replication, and characterisation of the intracellular compartments where HIV assembles in human macrophages.
In 2015/2016 I transitioned to Epidemiology by studying for an MSc at LSHTM.

I am a statistician for the EuroSIDA study, a large prospective observational cohort of HIV-positive individuals living in Europe. The main objective of EuroSIDA is to follow the long-term clinical prognosis for HIV-positive persons living in Europe and to assess the impact of antiretroviral treatments.
