UCL Principal Supervisor,UCL Subsidiary Supervisor

I am a Professor of Medical Physics with a secondment as a Professor of Heritage Science. My group’s main research is based around solving imaging problems by intelligent use of multimodal data.

In medical physics, my main research area is in developing diffuse optical tomography for functional brain imaging of adults and children, building upon my previous research, which led to the first 3D electrical impedance images of adult brain function and the first 3D optical tomography images of the neonatal head. I also have research interest in radiotherapy and broader medical imaging.

In heritage science, I am applying imaging techniques to aspects of heritage imaging with the UCL Centre for Digital Humanities and Institute for Sustainable Heritage. Predominantly, this has involved multispectral imaging and hyperspectral imaging.
Research Summary

I have received >£2.0M in grant income as Principal Inves-gator on 17 grants and >£4.0M as Co-Investigator on 12 grants. I have held an EPSRC Advanced Research Fellowship and an EPSRC Challenging Engineering Award.

I am an author on >70 papers in peer-reviewed journals and >100 conference proceedings, with contributions in medical imaging (optical, impedance, terahertz and x-ray), radiotherapy (proton therapy and optical dosimetry), heritage science and education.
