Biography
Dr Anna Ponomareva’s first degree is in Analytic Philosophy (Moscow State University) in which the study of language, personal identity and other minds are emphasised. Later her postgraduate studies at British universities, University of Manchester and UCL, and work experience at Home Office, Westminster Primary Care Trust and secondary schools in London have shaped Anna’s passion of theory and adjusted it for the practical needs of teaching Arts and Humanities in British academia. Her teaching is largely research-based and incorporates Anna’s latest research findings in Translation Studies, Comparative Literature and Russian Language.
Research Summary
Dr Anna Ponomareva completed her PhD in Translation Studies at UCL. The subject of her PhD is translation theory, in particular translation methods. Her other research interests include Russian Symbolism, History of Ideas, Comparative Literature and Russian Language. At the moment Anna is working on developing the notion of intersemiotic translation and contributes to research on Translation and Music.
