Biography
Annabelle South is the Policy, Communications and Research Impact Coordinator at the MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL, London. She is a research communicator with experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders, including patients, healthworkers and policymakers. Her work over the last decade at the MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL has focused on communicating the results of phase III clinical trials across HIV, TB and cancer. She is passionate about making sure patients can benefit from the results of research, and improving participants’ experience of trials. Her research interests include communicating results to trial participants, and professional audiences including clinicians and policymakers. She has Masters degrees in Development Studies (University of Cambridge) and Public Health (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine), and is currently writing up her thesis for a PhD in Clinical Trials Methodology.
Research Summary
Annabelle's primary research interests are the communication of clinical trials and patient and public involvement. She was Chief Investigator of the Show RESPECT study, a mixed methods cluster randomised factorial trial looking at how trial results should be communicated to participants.

She is also involved in a project looking at the treatment experiences of people with drug resistant TB in Georgia, Mongolia and South Africa.

Teaching Summary
Annabelle teaches on the MSc in Clinical Trials.
