- Subject Tutor for Psychology/ Social Science PGCE
- IOE - Curriculum, Pedagogy & Assessment
- UCL Institute of Education
I am currently Subject Leader for both PGCE Social Sciences and PGCE Psychology. I am the race and inclusion lead on the Secondary PGCE programme. I am also a tutor on the MA Education and am part of the leadership team for the core ‘Understanding Research’ module. I also work on the ‘Feminist pedagogy and approaches’ module.
In my role of the PGCE Social Sciences and Psychology programmes, I lead the subject team and teach all of the modules. I supervise student teachers while on school experience placements and work in partnership with our school-based colleagues. In my role with the whole Secondary PGCE programme, I lead work on anti-racism, decolonisation, PSHE and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE). In my role on the MA Education, I teach on both the core and optional modules and am both the academic and personal tutor to students on this programme and therefore supervise their dissertation projects.
My background is in Secondary school teaching, and I taught subjects across the Humanities and Social Sciences for 13 years, specialising in Sociology, Psychology and PSHE/RSE. I undertook a range of leaderships roles while in school and focused on teacher training and mentoring before I began my work in higher education. I have also undertaken consultancy work in anti-racism, decolonisation and PSHE/RSE teaching. I have particular expertise in these fields and continue to lead and develop these areas in ITE at the IOE.
Here I have taught PGCE students across the secondary PGCE programme and have taught and supervised students on the MA Education programme.
