Biography
I am a qualified clinical psychologist and Senior Research Fellow. I have worked in the NHS, in higher education, and in the third sector. I joined UCL in 2015.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Social and Political Sciences at the University of Cambridge. I have a professional doctorate (PsychD) in clinical psychology from the University of Surrey and a PhD from UCL.
Research Summary
My main research focus is on perinatal mental health and the early years. I am currently leading a mixed methods study exploring pathways between social isolation and postnatal depression. I have a particular interest in understanding how interpersonal networks and wider social structures influence distress and how mental health services engage with these.
Alongside my research I work clinically in the NHS with children and families.
Teaching Summary
I am a Research Tutor on the DPsych in Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy. In this role, I supervise clinical doctoral trainees carrying out doctoral theses related to the early years, and I co-lead teaching on clinical service evaluation and audit. I have also been involved in teaching, supervision and assessment on the MSc in Clinical Mental Health Sciences, and teach on perinatal mental health on other UCL programmes.
