I am a non-clinical Lecturer in Health Services Research and Medical Education. Until recently, I was the Academic Lead for the MSc in International Primary Health Care. I am the current lead for the PG Certificate in Clinical and Professional Education within UCL Medical School and lead on key modules that can be taken at M level or for CPD on: Teaching and Learning in Medical Education, Quality Improvement in Health Care and Clinical and Educational Supervision (delivered in conjunction with the Institute of Education).
My background is in political economy and public policy. I was awarded a First Class Honours degree in Economics and Politics and a Distinction in my MSc in Policy Research, both from Queen Mary, University of London. I am coming to the end of a (very) part time doctorate with the Research Department of Primary Care and Population Health at UCL exploring the lived experiences of refugee doctors seeking employment in the NHS.
At the beginning of my working life I worked in central government in research and policy analysis. I later became an independent researcher and policy analyst working on a range of projects in the fields of immigration, health services research and clinical education. I also taught public sector management, change management and public policy at postgraduate level at City University and Queen Mary, University of London before joining UCL in 2007.
My current research interests are in medical education, global and population health and the induction and transition of UK and non UK trained doctors into the NHS. I am also interested in innovation in health services research and system transformation.
