Biography

I joined the department of Psychology and Human Development at the UCL Institute of Education in May, 2019. I am a research fellow on the Nuffield Foundation funded project, "Empowering staff to enhance oral language in the early years" in collaboration with Newcastle University and University of Oxford (PI Professor Julie Dockrell, Co PI Professor James Law, Co PI Sandra Mathers).

I previously worked as a psychometrician in a private psychology practice gaining extensive experience administering standardised assessments and writing psychoeducational reports. I also co-facilitated programmes to support resiliency in small groups of children and adolescents.

PhD Psychology, University of Bath, 2015-2019
MSc Development, Disorders and Clinical Practice, University of York, 2014-2015
MA (Hons) Psychology, The University of Edinburgh, 2005-2009

Research Summary

My research interests are language development, developmental disorders, internalising disorders, emotion regulation, social cognition and social functioning. Specifically, my PhD investigated the pathways between Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and increased social and emotional difficulties in adolescents. As well as collecting data from clinical samples I analysed secondary data from the Millennium Cohort Study (MCS), a longitudinal population cohort.

Currently, I am working on an RCT to evaluate the efficacy of "Talking Time", an intervention with embedded CPD to improve oral language in nursery settings in areas of social disadvantage.
