My
research interests have been driven by my longstanding clinical interest in liver
imaging and the application of novel imaging techniques to probe diffuse and
focal liver disease. My PhD in MR
haemodynamic modelling in chronic liver disease, was sponsored by the Wellcome
Trust and undertaken in collaboration with the Liver Failure Group (Institute
for Liver and Digestive Health at the Royal Free) and the Centre for Advanced
Biomedical Imaging. My thesis
successfully developed, validated and translated MRI methods to investigate the
vascular pathophysiology of chronic liver disease in preclinical models of
liver disease and in patients.
I
have developed specific expertise in the use of phase-contrast MRI, dynamic
contrast enhanced MRI and arterial spin labelling (ASL), but am also interested
in the use of further MR methods for multimetric assessment of liver disease.
I
am currently involved in ongoing projects towards the development of
non-invasive biomarkers for portal hypertension, including the development of
clinical liver ASL.
