Charlotte currently works as a postdoctoral Research Fellow on the Transforming Universities for a Changing Climate study, a three-year GCRF-funded project looking at the potential role of universities in responding to the climate crisis in Brazil, Fiji, Kenya and Mozambique. This work includes coordinating a survey of 12 different higher education institutions, as well as co-authoring a systematic review into the evidence for university responses to the crisis. At the heart of the study are locally-generated climate actions; Charlotte has co-authored a working paper on principles and tools for participatory action research in universities with a climate justice approach. Developing from this work, Charlotte has worked in partnership with Dr Rosiana Lagi at the University of South Pacific, leading an IOE Global Engagement Fund project advocating for the role of education and indigenous knowledge in responding to the climate crisis through film-making.
Charlotte has delivered a range of guest lectures including on UCL's MA Education and International Development and the Bartlett Development Planning Unit's MSc Gender in Policy and Planning, and most recently through a collaboration with a colleague at East China Normal University, Shangai, around gender and higher education. She is particularly interested in the relationship between knowledge and new forms of communication, and currently facilitates seminars on the BA Education Studies in a module using podcasts to explore questions around education and international development. She has previously facilitated seminars and supervised dissertations on international development at Birkbeck, University of London. Charlotte is committed to transformative approaches, and is a member of the Decolonial Study Collective at UCL's Centre for Education and International Development.
