Funded by a Fulbright Grant, I began my academic career in applied anthropology at the University of South Florida. I currently work as an applied medical anthropologist across four teams (for full list of projects, see Research Activities):

  • Reorganising specialist cancer surgery for the 21st century: a mixed methods evaluation (RESPECT-21)
  • RFL Group Model Evaluation (embedded research team)
  • NIAA Health Services Research Centre, Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA)
  • Rapid Service Evaluation Team (RSeT)

My research interests include:


  • (Im)mobilities and healthcare (with a focus on medical travel)
  • Embedded research in healthcare organisations
  • Perioperative care
  • The delivery of cancer treatment and supportive care
  • The delivery of medical services to children in low and middle income countries (with a focus on cancer treatment and palliative care)

  • Visual methods
  • Narrative research (with a focus on dis-narration)

I am a fellow of the Society for Applied Anthropology. 

I am a committee member of the Qualitative Health Research Network (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/qualitative-health-research-network) and the Medical Anthropology Network (http://www.easaonline.org/networks/medical/).
