Dzul is from Indonesia and is a PhD student in the department of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Public Policy (STEaPP) at UCL.
He holds a BE (distinction) in Industrial Engineering from Universitas Indonesia and an MSc (distinction) in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Queen Mary University of London where his research focused on human capital and digital startup growth.
Prior to joining the PhD program, he is also a Research fellow for the department of entrepreneurship at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Sumbawa University of Technology.


Dzul's research revolves around aligning industrial policies with STI policies for inclusive growth and state-building through Frugal Innovation practices. He's particularly interested in archipelagic regions to try to understand how to conceptualize innovation in extreme contexts shaped by resource constraints and institutional voids.
