Research Summary

Main areas of activity have been managing and implementing a range of research programmes including the Global Learning Programme, funded by DFID, consultancy projects for bodies such as UNESCO and within the Institute supporting other academic staff in including the global dimension within their courses and the promotion of global perspectives within higher education. He is chair of the Academic Network for Global Education and Learning (ANGEL), an international network of academics and researchers.

Produced leading academic book on development education, The Theory and Practice of Development Education and Global Learning (2015), contributed to a number of books on aspects of development education and global education. Author of Understanding Global Skills for 21st Century Professions (2018) and Education for Social Change (2022).

Editor of Bloomsbury Handbook for Global Education and Learning (2020)

Author of numerous articles on themes such as global skills, global citizenship education and education for sustainable development

He is an active member of the Our Shared World network and with Jenny Hatley produced a research report for this network on Target 4.7, Evidence of Engagement in Schools in England.

Supervisor of numerous doctoral students and contributor to the MA in Development Education and Global Learning
