Biography

David is a Research Associate and Marie Curie Fellow at the UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources. His previous appointment was as a Postdoctoral Associate at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. He has a B.S. in Environmental Sciences and a M.Sc in Industrial Ecology by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and a Ph.D in Industrial Ecology from Leiden University. He also has professional experience in the fields of industrial and municipal waste management and environmental economics.

Research Summary

David's research interest focuses on the intersection between technology, economy and society, and the application of interdisciplinary approaches for environmental assessment that combine technology detail with economic completeness and behavioral realism. A special point of interest is the study of the environmental consequences of the behavior of economic actors, in particular pervasive effects from technical change (rebound effects). For this, a wide range of tools are combined: life cycle assessment, multi-regional input-output analysis, econometrics, etc. Other topical areas of interest include the resource nexus, sustainable transport, eco-innovation, sustainable consumption, waste management and renewable energies.
