Biography
I studied pre clinical medicine at the University of Oxford and clinical medicine at Guy's King's and St Thomas' school in London.

After my basic obstetrics and gynaecology training I joined Professor Jurkovic research group at King's College Hospital and the University College London Hospital. During this time I became expert in gynaecological ultrasound and completed my MD, "The role of three dimensional ultrasound in the diagnosis and treatment of uterine pathology".

I returned to general training and then was appointed academic clinical lecturer at UCL and subspecialty trainee at the prestigious Reproductive Medicine Unit at UCLH. During my lectureship I developed a prospective multicenter study on the impact of adenomyosis on IVF outcome. I also developed a project to use proteomics technology to identify biomarkers of endometriosis in serum. I saw both projects to completion and publication. The second project led to the award of a PhD.

I completed my clinical training ahead of time and was appointed substantive consultant in reproductive medicine at UCLH in 2016 and RMU unit lead in 2019.

Even though my current post is full time clinical, I have maintained a research profile, developing a new RCT on adenomyosis treatment, publishing on the impact of the COVID pandemic on contraceptive access and impact of COVID infection in early pregnancy on the risk of miscarriage.

I was appointed honorary associate Professor at UCL in 2109. I am currently supervisor for 1 MD student and 2 PhD students. I have successfully supervised a number of MSc students and teach on the MSc programme as well as undergraduate students.

I am passionate on the role of research to improve care delivery and outcomes. I hope to develop collaborations with UCL academics in other fields which can introduce successful innovations in Reproductive Medicine.

Research Summary

My research focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of benign gynaecological conditions that can impact reproductive health and on the development of innovative approaches to care delivery for patients undergoing assisted conception.

Highlights of my past research include:

- a groundbreaking paper on expectant management of ectopic pregnancies which has changed national and international guidance

- a randomized controlled trial on the use of GnRHa to before fibroid resection that did not identified a benefit and therefore spared women unnecessary pre treatment

- a prospective multicenter study on the impact of adenomyosis on IVF outcome

Current projects include

- a randomized trial on a modified protocol for downregulation for women with adenomyosis under going assisted conception

- an innovative project on the development of a wearable oestadiol biosensor

- applications of artificial intelligence on ovarian stimulation cycle monitoring

- novel application of AI on the quantification of uterine peristalsis

Teaching Summary
I have been supervisor on 3 successful MSc projects and am currently supervising two students for 2022 - 23.

I was secondary supervisor for a successful PhD student.

I am primary supervisor on an MD and a PhD student both of which has successfully upgraded. I have a third PhD student starting her project soon.

I teach on the UCL MSc Reproductive Medicine Course as well as UCL undergraduate medical students.

I have taught on the RCOG early pregnancy and gynae ultrasound course and am the current organiser for the British Fertility Society pelvic ultrasound course.
