Navaz Davoodian joined the UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering (IEDE)Light and Lighting Group in 2009 as a researcher. She currently work on two EPSRC funded projects; ‘Street Lighting Glare’ and ‘Mesopically Enhanced Road Lighting’.
Prior to joining UCL she completed a PhD in Urban Lighting at the School of Architecture, University of Sheffield. She obtained an MArch in Architecture in 2001.
Dr Davoodian's other research interests include the interaction of people with the built environment, visual/perceptual aspects of urban lighting, lighting master plans and social aspects of urban lighting including aging population.

Dr Davoodian’s research in ‘Street Lighting Glare’ project seeks to use some of the latest tools to investigate glare to develop a better understanding of the subject, so that the design of street lighting and vehicle lights can be improved.
Her other research project ‘Mesopically Enhanced Road Lighting (MERLIN)’ aims to understand the way vision and visual performance are affected by changes in the specteral composition and level of lighting when performing the visual tasks typical of residential roads at night in order to enable lighting design that is better for street users whilst consuming less energy.
Navaz Davoudian has been a teaching fellow for the MSc Light and Lighting since 2014.
She teaches on the following modules:
BENVGLG3 Lighting research
BENVGBE3 MSc Light and Lighting dissertation
She has also supervised many Master's dissertations.
