Principal Research Associate in the Communications and Information Systems Group, Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University College London. I have a BSc in Electronic, Computer and Systems Engineering from Loughborough University and a PhD in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from UCL.
Before joining UCL I was a Systems Design Engineer at GEC-Plessey Telecommunications (which became Marconi Communications and is now part of Ericsson). In 1993, I joined the Foundation for Research and Technology, Institute of Computer Science, Greece as a Research Associate in Telecommunications where worked on performance optimisation of multi-service networks.
I have published over 50 papers and I was the editor and co-author of "Integrated Communications Management of Broadband Networks" (Crete University Press, 1997). I have had a significant involvement in EU research programmes RACE, ACTS, IST and ICT projects (NEMESYS, ICM, VITAL, REFORM, MIAMI, TEQUILA, MESCAL, AGAVE, ENVISION and FUSION) and was co-investigator of the EPSRC-funded PeerLive project on streaming live video over p2p networks. I am currently the project manager of the EU FP7 FUSION project investigating new networking architectures with native support for provisioning, discovery and execution of service components distributed over the Internet.

My research interests are in planning, management and dynamic control for providing QoS in multiservice networks, p2p networking and novel routing paradigms for the Future Internet.
Recent research projects include:
FUSION: | novel architectures for service-oriented networking (2013-2015) |
ENVISION: | cooptimisation of overlay applications and underlying networks (2010-2013) |
PeerLive: | near real-time P2P audio-visual content distribution (2006-2010) |
AGAVE: | lightweight interdomain QoS through differentiated routing (ran until 2008) |
MESCAL: | interdomain QoS across the Internet (ran until 2005) |
TEQUILA: | traffic engineering for QoS in the Internet (ran until 2002) |
2009 | Doctor of Philosophy | University College London | |
1988 | Bachelor of Science (Honours) | Loughborough University |
