I research Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Ubiquitous Computing (Ubicomp). Currently my work focuses on helping people make sense of data, from the Internet of Things, from Energy Smart Meters, or from the Web, and on interaction with autonomous systems in everyday situations. Imagine your home appliances turned on autonomously to make the most of renewable energy, and your energy meter was able to automatically switch you to the tariff that it considers most convenient for you: exciting or scary? How do we best design interaction around such a scenario?
My work lies at the intersection of design and technology and it is influenced by behavioural and social sciences. I design, implement and evaluate novel interactive systems on desktop, mobile and embedded platforms. Some of my earlier research was about tangible user interfaces, wearable devices and designable visual marker recognition.
