Biography

BSc Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Chemistry UNAM, Mexico City (2014).
MSc Materials for Energy and Environment, Chemistry department UCL, London (2015).
PhD, Chemical Engineering department UCL, London (2020). Thesis title: Studies of intensified liquid-liquid extractions in small-channel contactors and their scale-up.

Research Themes
Research Summary

My research focuses on the following areas: Process Intensification, sustainable process industries, novel reactors and separations (including microreactors), and scale-up. I am also interested in climate change and technical, as well as social, solutions.
The development of scaled-out multiphase contactors and reactors using small channels was the focus of my PhD thesis. The outputs of this research are available in my publications.

Teaching Summary

I teach in the capstone 3rd year undergraduate process design course for chemical engineering students. I give lectures on sustainability, process design, and safety throughout the autumn and winter terms. Additionally, I meet with students in teams to verify they stay on-track throughout the two-term module.
Furthermore, I have experience teaching and coordinating in a lab-based module for 2nd year undergraduate chemical engineering students.
I am a personal tutor for several undergraduate chemical engineering students. Under this role, I give support to students and make sure they have all the tools they may need to be successful in their studies and careers.
I am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) and I am currently working towards becoming a Fellow of the HEA (FHEA).
