Academic Background
PhD thesis: Role of cholesterol metabolism in atherosclerosis.
As a postdoctoral scientist, Elvira Mambetisaeva worked on a number of research projects: the role of gap junctions in Charcot-Marie-Tooth; neural induction in Xenopus laevis, and the role of axon guidance molecules Robos and Slits in mammals. She is interested in understanding human disease development, in particular, in the molecular mechanisms of how cancer cells evade the immune system and cancer dormancy, and in pharmacogenetics.
