Eoghan is a Senior Research Associate in Data Science and End Use Energy Demand at the Energy Institute, UCL. 
Eoghan holds a BSc in Physics from Imperial College London, and MSc and PhD degrees from the Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology at Loughborough University. 
Before joining UCL, Eoghan was a Postdoctoral Researcher in Electricity Demand at the Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford for two years and a Fellow of the Oxford Martin Programme on Integrating Renewable Energy.
Previously, he worked for three years as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Energy Demand at the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering, Loughborough University, where he retained an honorary position as a Visiting Academic after his departure.

Research Summary

Eoghan’s research focuses on the role of households in supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy and he has particular interests in demand response (how households can be flexible in the times they use energy) and the adoption and use of low-carbon technologies such as solar panels and home battery storage systems. 

Eoghan works on the Smart Energy Research Lab, a 5-year £6M EPSRC-funded research project to provide access to smart meter data for the UK research community. For more information see: https://serl.ac.uk/
