Biography
Dr Eyitayo Opabola is a Senior Marie Curie Research Fellow in Resilience Engineering at UCL, where his research focuses on community-level post-disaster recovery modelling for policy development. Dr Opabola completed his BE (Civil and Industrial Engineering) and MS (Structural Engineering) at the Voronezh State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Voronezh, Russia). His MS research work focused on proof load testing of a multispan bridge and time-dependent probabilistic risk assessment of existing bridges in Russia. He completed his PhD (Structural Engineering) at the University of Auckland (Auckland, New Zealand) where his research work focused on laboratory testing of full-scale ductile and non-ductile concrete frame components, development of mechanistic formulations for seismic assessment of concrete frame buildings, and nonlinear modelling of concrete structures.
Research Summary
Research interests include large-scale laboratory and field testing of concrete structures, post-earthquake repair and retrofit of concrete buildings, multi-hazard vulnerability assessment, and post-disaster resilience and recovery modelling.
