Biography
I am a postdoc in the Department of Genetics, Evolution and Environment working with Dr. Nick Lane and Dr. Florencia Camus on the effects of drugs and diet on mitonuclear interactions in Drosophila melanogaster.
I obtained my BSc. in Biology and my MSc. at the University of Ottawa, Canada. I worked under the supervision of Dr. Charles-Antoine Darveau and Dr. Jean-Michel Weber on Hymenopteran bioenergetics and membrane composition.
I then went on to do my Ph.D in Dr. Pierre Blier's laboratory at Université du Québec à Rimouski, Canada. My project was on mitochondrial architecture related to lifespan in marine bivalves, including the longest-lived non-colonial animal known to date, the ocean quahog Arctica islandica (maximum lifespan of 507 years).
Research Summary
I am interested in everything surrounding mitochondria: from their fundamental structure, function, roles in oxidative stress in the context of aging, diseases and evolution.
