Biography
Eirini is a Senior Research Fellow in Health Economics (NIHR ARC North Thames) in the Department of Applied Health Research at UCL. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Kent and an MSc in Economics (Economic Theory) from Athens University of Economics and Business. She is an External Affiliate of the Health Econometrics and Data Group (University of York), and a member of the International Health Economics Association (iHEA). Prior to joining UCL, Eirini held several research and teaching positions at the University of Kent and University of Leeds.
Research Summary
Eirini's research interests lie in the areas of economics of disability, economics of discrimination, health economics and applied microecometrics. She has a strong interest in discrimination faced by disabled people in different areas, including the labour market, and how such discrimination can be measured and understood using survey data. Her research has examined whether disabled people are likely to misreport their (disability) status when asked in a survey.

Additionally, she has been involved in several studies with an economic evaluation component (oral health, mental health, genetic disorders, chronic conditions) and cross-national studies (wellbeing programme for patients with diabetes; effectiveness and efficiency in long-term care). Eirini was part of the research team responsible for estimating preference weights for social care-related quality of life in the UK, Finland and Austria.

Eirini is in the Research Partnership Team (ARC North Thames). Her current projects relate to the impact of COVID-19 on the retention and sustainability of the social care workforce; the transitions of older adults between different care settings; and the evaluation of a muscle strengthening exercise for boys with haemophilia (the first clinical trial of its kind in the UK).
