Biography
I have completed a Bachelors and Masters in Earth Sciences at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands. My Bachelor thesis was focused on the effects of CO2 on reservoir rocks in collaboration with the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. During my MSc thesis I broadened my scope from rock mechanics to paleo- and rock magnetism by 'cleaning' a partially remagnetized magneto-stratigraphic section in East Timor. After, I obtained my PhD at the Université Grenoble Alpes in France on the thesis entitled 'Experimental simulation of the seismic cycle in fault damage zones'.
Research Summary
My research focuses on the mechanical and petrophysical properties of upper crustal fault damage zones and their effect on fault behavior. I study this mainly from an experimental perspective, with a strong focus on coseismic damage caused by stress wave loading. To do so I am involved in the development and use of a novel impact rig.
