I have practiced within early educational settings for almost a decade as a primary school teacher, a forest school leader, and a Montessori teacher. This background accounts for my research interests in pedagogies which support creativity, the use of digital media and children’s rights.
I have ESRC funding for my doctorate, which is being completed at the UCL Knowledge Lab. The aim of this research is to expand upon our current understanding of pre-schoolers’ creative use of tablets with their parents in the home environment, applying post-humanist theory alongside theories of embodiment. My supervisors are Professor Sara Price and Professor Natalia Kucirkova.
I am a senior lecturer in Early Childhood Studies and a course leader for the Early Childhood with Montessori Pedagogy Level 6 Top Up at the University of East London. I am a module leader on a core BA Education Research Methods module (taught online and on campus). I have contributed to modules in the areas of multimodality, children’s rights, social policy, and the history of pedagogy. I have won teaching awards for the use of educational technologies in my teaching.
