I am a senior paediatric infectious diseases trainee, working clinically at St Mary's Hospital Paddington and am enthusiastic about nearly all things bug-related.

I am an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer currently based in Zimbabwe working on projects around antimicrobial resistance and ways of limiting spread both in hospitals and communities. I am particularly interested in infection prevention control in under-resourced settings. My PhD investigated microbial translocation in HIV-infected children in Uganda, using molecular methods to test for bacterial DNA in blood, supervised by Nigel Klein. I spent several months in Sierra Leone during the West African Ebola virus disease (EVD) crisis working clinically and developing a cohort study of >1000 children admitted to Ebola holding units with suspected EVD. This project has resulted in several original research papers, three national level awards and will hopefully contribute to the next iteration of WHO guidelines.
I have supervised a medical student BSc project and mentored several other BSc students which I really enjoyed. In my current role I am looking to expand my supervisory role and would be keen to hear from BSc/MSc/PhD applicants wanting to work in resource limited settings in paediatric infectious diseases- particularly antimicrobial resistance.
