I am an Associate Professor in the eHealth Unit, based at the Research Department of Primary Care & Population Health (PCPH). I am dual trained in Public Health Medicine and General Practice. My PhD examined the impact of pay-for-performance schemes in Primary Care, such as the national Quality & Outcomes Framework (QOF), on prevention activities, including smoking cessation advice and alcohol screening and brief intervention, with a focus on health inequalities. This work led to a NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer post at PCPH, followed by a HEFCE-funded Clinical Lecturer post at PCPH. I was promoted to Associate Professor in 2020. I work three days a week at UCL and two days a week as a Public Health Consultant at Salford Council.

My research examines the effectiveness of eHealth interventions to address behaviour change, with a focus on health inequalities and the digital divide. For example, current work includes evaluation of 'Living With Covid Recovery', an interactive, clinician-guided eHealth intervention for people with long Covid, for which I am leading a work package on health inequalities within a large multi-centre study team funded by NIHR and co-led by Professor Elizabeth Murray and Dr Henry Goodfellow. I supervise PhD students but I am not taking on any more students currently. If you are interested in pursuing a PhD at PCPH please contact our Graduate Tutor Dr Marston (l.marston@ucl.ac.uk).
I am module lead for Social Determinants of Health, which runs across all years of the medical school curriculum.
