Dr Fabiana Lorencatto is a researcher, trainer and consultant in behaviour change,and is the Research Lead at the Centre for Behaviour Changeat University College London (www.ucl.ac.uk/behaviour-change).
Fabiana is a behavioural and implementation scientist. Herresearch focuses on the application of behavioural science theories,frameworks, and methods to identify individual, socio-cultural andenvironmental factors influencing behaviour, as a basis for designing theory-and evidence-based behaviour change interventions. Particularly in the contextof healthcare provider behaviour change and healthcare quality improvement. She also has methodological expertise andinterest in process evaluations of complex interventions, particularly theassessment of intervention fidelity. Fabiana also has expertise in theapplication of behavioural science frameworks in systematic reviews to synthesiseevidence on behavioural influences and identify the active ingredients ofbehaviour change interventions.
Fabiana’sresearch is highly applied and multidisciplinary, collaborating with a widerange of academic disciplines, policy makers, and practitioners across sectors.She currently leads the behavioural science formative research, intervention development,piloting and process evaluation work packages of numerous large,multidisciplinary programmes of research on topics such as: antimicrobialresistance, infection prevention and control, medication adherence, diabeticretinopathy screening, post-partum haemorrhage and dietary behaviour.
Shecompleted her PhD in 2013 in Health Psychology at University College London,investigating the translation of evidence-based smoking cessation behaviouralsupport interventions into clinical practice. She is an Associate Editor ofImplementation Science Communications. She regularly teaches on a range of BScand MSc courses, and supervises a number of post-graduate and doctoral studentsfrom different disciplinary backgrounds. She also regularly providesconsultancy and training in behavioural science and intervention development tostakeholders across sectors and disciplines.
