Research Summary

Gabrial is an expert in energy system modelling and policy analysis, working on energy system models such as MARKAL and TIMES for energy and climate policy analysis at national, regional and global level. He has about 10 years of research experience working in developed and developing countries. He worked in a range of large research projects in the UK such as UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC) Phase I and Phase II, UK Sustainable Hydrogen Energy Consortia (UKSHEC) projects and Bio energy project.

Gabrial has carried out research in many cities in South and East Asia, analysing technical options to mitigate urban transport emissions, under “Asian Regional Research Program in Energy, Environment and Climate” (ARRPEEC) Phase II and Phase III when he was working in AIT.

Gabrial’s research interests include energy system modeling at national, regional (EU) and global level, multi-criteria analysis (AHP), multi-objective energy system modelling, decomposition analysis, global technology learning, modelling unconventional gas, energy efficiency improvements in developing countries, and low-carbon technology pathways for developing countries.
