Originally from North East England, I completed a BSc in physics at the University of Manchester, and after a musical interlude, continued with a PhD in particle physics. As part of my PhD, I was based at Fermilab, near Chicago USA, working on D0 experiment on what was, at the time, the highest energy particle accelerator in the world, the Tevatron. After a postdoctoral position with Northeastern University, also on D0, in 2009 I took a position as a CERN Fellow, working on the CMS experiment. In 2010 I joined UCL as a Royal Society University Research Fellow, working on the ATLAS experiment, and in 2012 was appointed as a Lecturer.
