Lisanne graduated with a BSc in Economics from University College Roosevelt (Netherlands) and an MSc in Epidemiology from University College London (United Kingdom). She undertook her PhD in Statistics at the University of East Anglia (United Kingdom), investigating the survival prospects and improvements associated with cardiovascular disease using primary care data from the UK.
Lisanne then undertook a Postdoc in Statistics at the University of East Anglia as part of the ESRC funded Business and Local Government Data Research Centre. She worked on the development of statistical methods for modelling mortality and trends in morbidity and evaluating longevity improvements using big health data, continuing the research of her PhD. She also carried out longitudinal data analyses to examine the pathways and outcomes of children in the social care system in England.
After that, Lisanne made the switch to ophthalmic statistics, intrigued by the statistical challenges in the analysis of hierarchical longitudinal ophthalmic data. She is now an Ulverscroft Senior Research Fellow in Biostatistics and part of the Vision and Eyes Group at the Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health (GOS ICH). She undertakes longitudinal analyses of ophthalmic data and advises on statistical analyses for epidemiological projects undertaken by the Vision and Eyes Group and colleagues within the Ophthalmology Department at the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
Lisanne leads the Institute’s Statistics Group (ICH Stats Group). She also manages the web presence of the Vision and Eyes Group.

Lisanne is a
biostatistician with research interests in longitudinal analysis, joint
modelling and ophthalmic statistics. She has experience in the
application of relevant statistical techniques to clinical and care provision
data. She collaborates with academics and
clinicians and provides statistics consultations.
During her time at the University of East Anglia, Lisanne has been a seminar leader of Foundation Mathematics and Computing Principals for undergraduate students; Research Techniques and Methods for postgraduate students; and Statistical Methods for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
During her current position at UCL GOS ICH, Lisanne developed a monthly seminar series of Bitesize Ophthalmic Statistics for clinicians in the Ophthalmology Department at the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). The series is on
