Biography

Dr Giulio Marini is from October 2020 Lecturer (Teaching) at the Social Research Institute - IoE UCL and Associate at the Centre for Higher Education Studies (CHES) at EPS IoE UCL. Previously he was Research Associate at the Centre for Global Higher Education, EPS Department, IoE UCL since 2016. He has previously worked in post-doctoral positions at Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa (Italy), Centro de Investigação de Políticas do Ensino Superior (CIPES), Porto (Portugal), The National Research Council (Italy) and Sapienza University (Italy), where he got his PhD in Methodology for Social Sciences.

Research Themes
Research Summary
From 2010 until 2020 I had multiple research positions in higher education as a research field, especially in relation to academic careers and organizational development of universities. Before this period, I was doing research about Active Labour Market policies. Currently I leading a special issue about Academic Freedom and I have two small grants as PI about international staff in Chinese universities and employability of doctoral holders. I am also associate editor of "European Journal of Higher Education".




Teaching Summary

Before joining SRI in 2020, I have been Course Leader in a Summer School at IoE in Higher Education (2017), Module Leader in Statistics at ESCP London (2016) and multiple Module Leader positions at the School of Sociology - Sapienza University of Rome (2006-2011; Sociology of Work; OB; Research Methods). I started to teach as a teaching assistant in early 2000s in Italy. I supervise doctoral students since 2017. I also offered sessions for UCLC.


Willing to consider PhD Supervision in quantitative research about topics like: Employability of Doctoral Holders; Careers in Higher Education; Higher Education Management
