Research Summary
Design and development of microwave integrated photonics circuits in thin-films lithium niobate
This PhD project aims at designing, characterising and demonstrating photonics devices (couplers, broadband modulators, etc.) and circuits, where many devices (e.g. arrays of modulators for transmitters) and functions are combined in a single chip from thin-film lithium niobate (LiNbO3). At the beginning the project will involve design and modelling of integrated circuits, which will be fabricated externally at a partner institution. After fabrication devices will be delivered to UCL for the optical and electrical characterisation and demonstration of performance.
