After studying Mathematics & Statistics at undergraduate and Master’s level at the University of Manchester, I stayed on as a support statistician and tutor in basic and intermediate statistics. During this time I took a one-year sabbatical to work on a large collaborative study for the French national institute of medical research (INSERM). I carried out my PhD in Biostatistics & Epidemiology at UCL, where I used Hospital Episode Statistics to estimate risks of death and emergency re-admissions in adolescents admitted to hospital in England with violent, self-inflicted, or drug/alcohol-related injury. I joined the Epidemiology of Cancer and Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO) Research Group at UCL in 2016.

Research Summary

My current research involves analysing administrative datasets to identify sub-groups of cancer patients where pathways to diagnosis may be improved. For example, sub-groups of patients who are at greater risks of diagnosis through 'emergency presentation'.

As a statistician I'm particularly interested in extensions to time-to-event (survival) analysis methods (e.g., to account for clustering of patients or recurrent events).
