I teach the Introduction to Political Philosophy (PHIL0007). The module focusses primarily on a set of fundamental normative questions about political organisation: on what basis do states have the authority to rule, what liberties should individuals have, in which ways, if any, is the state to make individuals equal to one another? Authors include Thomas Hobbes, Jeremy Bentham, John Rawls, Karl Marx, Catharine MacKinnon, and Martin Delaney. The module is required for first year single honours philosophy students and for first year PPE students, but is open to students from different years and different courses.

Equality (PHIL0077). Concerned with moral and political questions about equality. Most generally: in which ways, if any, should a political society recognise the equality of all persons? And in which ways, if any, should a political society ensure that people are equal to one another? More specific topics vary by year. Open to third year BA, MA, and MPhil/PhD students. 

The Epistemology of Disagreement. How should be adjust our belief in light of the fact that others disagree with us? Open to third year BA, MA, and MPhil/PhD students. 

Recent Work in Moral and Political Philosophy. Topics vary by year. Past editions have included public reason, the ethics of discrimination, and social egalitarianism. Open to MA and MPhil/PhD students.
