I studied medicine at the University of Cambridge and University College London, subsequently specialising in Infectious Diseases and General Medicine, training in Oxford, London, South Africa and The Gambia. I was awarded a Wellcome Trust Clinical Training Fellowship based at the University of Cape Town which focused on characterising subclinical tuberculosis in the context of HIV infection utilising PET/CT imaging, transcriptomic an immunological approaches and I continued to work in this area as a Clinical Lecturer at University of Oxford.
My current role as Clinical Associate Professor at UCL is split between the Medical Research Council Clinical Trials unit, where I focus on the development of innovative clinical trials in tuberculosis and the Institute for Global Health where my work primarily focuses on understanding the role of subclinical disease in tuberculosis transmission. I continue to work clinically as an Honorary Consultant at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
