Biography
Helen completed her medical training at the University of Nottingham, UK and has since worked as a medical doctor in both the UK and Thailand. After finishing her Neurology Specialty training, she joined the Reta Lila Weston Institute and Queen Square Brain Bank for Neurological Studies, UCL Institute of Neurology since 2008. Helen was a clinical fellow in Movement Disorders under the supervision of Professor Andrew Lees between 2009 and 2012. She was awarded the prestigious Junior Award for Excellence in Clinical Research by the Movement Disorders Society in 2009 and was awarded a PhD in neuroscience research by UCL in 2014. Helen is also a clinician at the PSP and CBD multidisciplinary clinic at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London.

Research Themes


Research Summary
Helen’s main research interests are neuropathology and clinico-pathological correlations in neurodegenerative diseases. She has been actively involved in research studies with neuropathologists at the Queen Square Brain Bank, Professors Tamas Revesz and Janice Holton, in the fields of corticobasal degeneration (CBD), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), multiple system atrophy (MSA) and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). Helen is currently funded by Karin & Sten Mortstedt CBD Solutions to study the pathological progression of CBD.
Teaching Summary
Helen has participated in teaching and examination of students of the MSc clinical neurology and neuroscience research course at the UCL Institute of Neurology and has been invited as speaker at national and international conferences.
