Dr Harry Hothi is an orthopaedic engineer with a background in mechanical (BEng) and biomedical (MSc, PhD) engineering. He is an honorary Associate Professor at UCL, the Implant Science Fellow of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) and the Engineering Director of the London Implant Retrieval Centre (LIRC), also based at the RNOH.
He was a British Orthopaedic Research Society (BORS) travelling fellow visiting research centres in Hong Kong, China (Xi’an), Australia (Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney) and Singapore.
Harry runs projects related to the analysis of orthopaedic implants. This research has led to: (1) 75 papers published in peer-reviewed journals, (2) over 110 acceptances of abstracts to leading international conferences and (3) collaboration with 80 co-authors, including surgeons, engineers, scientists, statisticians and students from Germany, USA, Finland, Canada, China and across the UK.
Harry has lectured to undergraduate and postgraduate students and coordinates the clinical modules of the UCL MSK MSc (led by Prof Alister Hart), based at the UCL Stanmore campus. He is currently co-supervising 3 PhD students and has previously co-supervised 4 PhD students to completion and 14 MSc/BSc students that have all presented their work at international conferences or submitted manuscripts for peer-review.
