Biography

Hans has previously led and delivered initial teacher training within a large FE/HE setting. He has managed undergraduate degree programmes in subjects including Criminology,  Social Justice, Law and Business pathways. Hans has taught a range of subjects including Citizenship GCSE and A-Levels in Citizenship, Politics, Sociology and Law. He has also taught Religious Education and English. He has been a Head of Citizenship and RE in a school in Luton and Head of Citizenship and Progression in a large London FE College. Hans has worked abroad and in the third sector creating and developing peace educational resources, teacher training and student workshops. 

Hans is involved in numerous projects to promote Citizenship education and Citizenship Initial Teacher Education across different teaching and charitable sectors. He has been a member of the Association for Citizenship Teaching Council since 2014 and became Vice Chair in 2017. In 2018 he became co-editor of ACT journal 'Teaching Citizenship' and in 2020 a Trustee. 

During Hans' MA International Disaster Management at the Humanitarian Conflict and Response Institute Hans started to work on bridging Citizenship education and disaster management an area that Hans continues to be involved in through research. Hans commenced his studies for his Education Doctorate (EdD) in 2020.
