Research Themes

Research Summary
I lead a health informatics group - KnowLab and co-lead the Clinical NLP group in Edinburgh University.
I hold a PhD in Computing Science. My current research interest is in using text technologies and Knowledge Graph techniques to analyse electronic health records (EHRs). The goal is to derive a consistent and comprehensive patient phenome from unstructured and structured EHRs and provide semantic computation upon it to support decision making for tailored care, trial recruitment and research. I work closely with NHS Trusts and health boards across the UK to use artificial intelligence technologies in research and health service improvement (current funded projects).
