- Professor of Fluid Mechanics
- Dept of Mechanical Engineering
- Faculty of Engineering Science
Ian Eames has been a Professor of Fluid Mechanics since 2012. He has been based in the Mechanical Engineering Department, within the Faculty of Engineering Sciences, for the past 15 years. During this period he led the team to bring a new dimension to the fluids research and completely refurbish and equipment the fluids laboratories.

This covers an extremely broad area of the physical sciences.
My teaching is comprised of managing the First Year mathematics with the Mechanical Engineering Department and teaching the 3rd year option on Mechanics of Fluids. The students on the 3rd year course are really excellent with great questions and an inquisitive nature which we try to support. I supervise a large number of undergraduate, MSc and PhD projects that are really focussed on testing and exploring new areas as well as laying firm foundations for future work.
