I am Deaf and have been a BSL user since I was 11. I recently graduated from the University of Birmingham with a BA in Political Science and Modern History. Previously I worked at the National Deaf Children's Society which shaped my interest for issues surrounding the Deaf community and Deaf children. I am very excited to be an intern at DCAL. This post gives me the opportunity to explore different research areas and themes allowing me to hopefully gather ideas for potential research. I am particularly interested in bilingual BME Deaf children who learn BSL later on in life and how this relates to their development. Currently I am involved in several projects focusing on linguistics and also the Deaf with Dementia Project.
