For more than a decade my work has focused largely on the use of electronic health
records for aetiological and epidemiological research. I moved to UCL in 2003 and I have since built a vibrant and productive research
environment around analysis of primary care databases at UCL. I have led and supported a number of projects funded by MRC, NIHR and various charities and have co-authored around 160 papers based on electronic health records and population registries.
I received a MRC postdoctoral fellowship in 2007 to examine prescribed medicine in pregnancy. I was promoted to Principal Research Associate in 2011, became Reader in 2013 and Professor in 2017.

My main interest is in epidemiological and methodological research. I work with a team of epidemiologists and statisticians across a number of research areas and projects. This includes topics such as prescribed medicine in pregnancy, physical health in people with severe mental illnesses, development of new methods for longitudinal imputation of missing data in electronic health records. I supervise a large group of PhD students and (postdoctoral) research associates and we often have national and international researchers working with our team for shorter or longer periods of time.
