Research Summary
My research interests include:
- anthropology in global health
- policy institutions and processes
- evidence translation from research to policy
- maternal health, childbirth and midwifery
- global health policy
- vaccine hesitancy
My regional expertise includes the UK, Brazil and Portugal.
My doctoral research was an ethnography of policy making strategies used by the "humanised birth movement" in Brazil to promote woman-centred care and reduce unnecessary clinical interventions around pregnancy and childbirth. I have extensive experience conducting qualitative interviews and focus group discussions.
My current research is on the impact of Covid-19 on NHS maternity services in England. I am the principal investigator on a qualitative study with 50 participants.
