Joshua is a Teaching Fellow on the BA History of Art, Materials, and Technology in the History of Art Department.
Joshua received his DPhil from the University of Oxford in Inorganic Chemistry in 2016 and subsequently trained in the Conservation of Wall Painting at the Courtauld Institute of Art.


Joshua's research interests are primarily in the use of scientific techniques in the service of conservation. This includes interests in the technologies of wall paintings in a global context, diagnosis of environmental deterioration, and material alteration more generally. A related interest is in evidence-based decision making in conservation.
Joshua has undertaken research in collaboration with Historic Royal Palaces, Westminster Abbey, and Imperial College London.
