I'm a philosopher, whose work focuses on Critical Theory, social philosophy, psychoanalysis and cultural studies. I'm interested in processes of reasoning and rationality, particularly in regard to identity, recognition, social change, creativity and political decision making.
My current research is focused on:
- Political decision making, and identity formation, particularly in digital contexts
- Epistemic (in)justice
- Cognitive approaches to social and political change and imagination
- Philosophical research methods within the social sciences
- Artistic practice as a model for exploring thinking and cognition
- Processes of racialisation and misrecognition
- Change and advocacy within international development
I am currently the module leader for two undergraduate modules:
- Philosophical Reflections on Education with Film (Y1)
- Ways of Thinking and Ways of Being (Y2)
- Philosophy, Thought and Perception (Y2)
I also teach on the MA in Philosophy of Education, and supervise dissertations at master's and undergraduate level.
My previous teaching work at IoE has encompassed developmental and learning psychology, sociology of education, philosophy of education, media and communications.
I previously lectured in Philosophy and Creativity at the University of Cambridge, leading the Creativity and Thinking paper, and teaching philosophy across a variety of other undergraduate papers.
