Research Summary

Dr Brown is a Principal Research Fellow of the Society for Study of Addiction and Deputy Director of the UCL Tobacco and Alcohol Research Group. He co-leads a programme of research to evaluate digital behaviour change interventions and manages the monthly population surveys, the ‘Smoking and Alcohol Toolkit Studies’. In over 90 publications on a variety of topics, a particular focus has been on tobacco control, including real-world monitoring and evaluation of e-cigarettes, harm reduction activity, and national tobacco policies and events. He has been invited to present his work on e-cigarettes at international conferences, to the UK regulatory authorities for medicines, and has co-authored a briefing to the UK all-party parliamentary pharmacy group. He is a co-author of Theory of Addiction (second edition) and ABC of Behaviour Change Theories, and an Assistant Editor at the journal Addiction.
