May 2019: started as Vice Dean Research for The Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment.

July 2018: started at UCL as Professor of Construction Management. 

March 2003 - June 2018: full-time academic in the School of Architecture, Building & Civil Engineering, Loughborough University.

January 1998 - February 2003: part-time academic in the School of Architecture, Oxford Brookes University.

January 1998 - February 2003: part-time consultant to the British Cement Association.

I am a Fellow of CIOB and CABE, and Associate Member of RIBA. My teaching practice has been recognised with the award of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, SFHEA.

From 2014-17, I was Chair of the Supply Chain Sustainability School's Horizon Group, and from 2017-19, I was Chair of BSI's SDS/3 Committee, which focuses on sustainable consumption and production. I am currently a member of the Construction Leadership Council's Advisory Group and the Higher Education/Skills Group. 

Research Themes
Research Summary

My research interests lie within the construction industry. I was the Principal Investigator of the Transforming Construction Network Plus (N+), funded from the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund. I am familiar with manufacturing, construction, and service firms and their operating practices, and am increasingly involved in projects focusing on digital construction and industry transformation. I have published over 150 papers, secured over £10m of funding (from research councils and industry) and supervised more than 20 doctoral students to completion. In so doing I have attended to research spanning strategy, procurement, standards, values, and accounting for sustainability. Many of my research projects have been supported by industrial partners, including global materials companies and consultancies. My leadership in research and enterprise is extensive, having previously been a Director of an EPSRC Industrial CDT (the Centre for Innovative and Collaborative Construction Engineering), and an Associate Dean for Enterprise.      

Teaching Summary

In the School, I am module leader for BCPM0045 The Construction Firm, which is an optional module for our postgraduate taught students.
