After completing my MChem at Durham University, during which time I carried out a summer placement at the Institute Laue-Langevin researching oxide-mobility in solid oxide fuel cell materials, I moved to the Electrochemical Innovation Lab (EIL) at UCL to begin my PhD. My PhD was focused on characterising polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs) across multiple lengthscales, with the aim of gaining a deepened understanding of morphology changes occuring in electrodes during operation and degradation. I obtained my PhD in January 2021. I am currently working in the Department of Chemical Engineering, still based in the EIL, where I am an EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellow carrying out research into zinc-air battery anodes. 
Research Themes
Research Summary
My current research focuses on understanding morphology change in the anodes of zinc-air and zinc-based batteries. Using X-ray computed tomography (X-ray CT), alongside more traditional characterisation methods like SEM and XRD, I investigate how the microstructure of the electrode changes during cycling and correlate this to the electrochemical performance. I am also interested more widely in the application of three- and four-dimensional (i.e. 3 spatial dimensions plus time) imaging methods, like X-ray and neutron CT, to other energy devices, such as fuel cells and electrolysers. By gaining insight into the reasons why electrodes fail in electrochemical technologies, I believe we can engineer electrode improvements to prolong the lifetime of these devices. 
Teaching Summary
I currently teach on two Master's level courses; Energy Systems and Sustainability, and Research Skills. During my PhD, I was a post-graduate teaching assistant (PGTA), where I carried out lab demonstrations for second year undergraduate labs, which includes overseeing students during experiments and marking lab report. I am also currently working towards a UCL Arena Fellowship, which was inspired by completion of a course entitled "Postdoctoral Introduction to Teaching and Microteaching".
